Our daily act of collective worship are based on monthly Christian values.
The values we have selected for 2015-2016 are:
July - Hope
During July's collective worship, we will be learning about the value of hope. We will think about the hope in God's promise 'that love and goodness have, and will ultimately, overcome all evil and that his hope is manifested in the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ'. We will also think about hopes for the future for ourselves and others.
'Hope is coupled with faith and love as one of the three most enduring gifts of the Spirit.'
1 Corinthians 13:13
June - Peace
As part of our work on the value of Peace, we will spend time considering how peace is more than just being quiet or being in a place that is noise free. We will look at Jesus' teaching about living peaceful lives, as well as other key figures in Christianity. We will think about other words that describe being 'peaceful', such as relaxed, calm, happy and tranquil.
Psalm 34:14 “Turn from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it.”
May - Wisdom
During our collective worship on Wisdom, we will think about how Christians believe that true wisdom comes from God. As a believer grows in faith so wisdom will increase. In the Bible wisdom is seen as both a gift from God and a characteristic of God. In his parables, Jesus taught that placing trust in God and recognising what is of value in life, brings fulfilment.
“For wisdom is better than rubies; and all the things that may be desired are not to be compared to it”
April - Creativity
During collective worship in April we will learn about creativity. As part of our work on the value of Creativity, we will think about God as Creator of the world. We will talk about what a great designer God must be and how powerful He is. We are reminded how important it is for us to make informed choices about looking after our world.
'For nothing will be impossible with God.' Luke 1:37
March - Perseverance
During collective worship in March, we will be learning about the value of Perseverance. We will think about the importance of persevering to reach our goals in life, learning and faith. We will also think about how we can encourage each others to do so too.
'I press on towards the goal.' Philippians 3.14
February - Responsibility
“Work hard and cheerfully at whatever you do.” Colossians 3:23
January - Trust
During our collective worship on Trust, we will think about people or things that we trust and what trust means in our relationships with others. We will also looked at the repercussions when trust is broken.
Jesus’s words to his disciples ‘Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God, in whom I trust.’
