Learning and Teaching in the Foundation Unit:

It is our aim to provide a safe and secure, learning environment where children thrive on the carefully planned activities and rich learning opportunities provided. The curriculum is play based with a balance of child initiated and adult focused activities. The staff team work closely together to plan and deliver a curriculum that matches and extends the abilities of each individual child.

We will be running each day within a routine which involves opportunities for the children to access independent activities; when they choose what they want to play with, adult focussed activities; led by an adult and building on key skill areas for small groups of children, indoor and outdoor learning; each child will be able to access both indoor and outdoor areas throughout the day (whatever the weather – within reason), carpet time; adult led large group activities including, stories, singing, games, and music making.

Moving on:

Even though the Puffin Class is very much part of Culham Parochial Primary School, your child’s attendance does not guarantee a place within the main school.

For this you need to apply to the Local Authority during the Autumn Term (Sept – Dec) of the academic year that your child turns 4 years old. Forms are available on the ‘Oxfordshire County Council’ website: www.oxfordshire.gov.uk/cms/public-site/starting-school

Please speak to a member of the office staff if you have any queries regarding this process.
