Ofsted inspectors are employed by the Government and visit schools to ensure standards are being maintatined and children are achieving in line with expectations.

Inspections are wide ranging and their remit is to determine whether the school matches up to the standards that they have self-evaluated, or whether it is better or worse. They inspect all aspects of the school from teaching, pastoral care and safeguarding to management and leadership ensuring that the school is looking after the pupils to a required statutory standard. Each school is graded on a range of topics and measures.

As a church school we also receive a SIAMS inspection carried out on behalf of the Diocese. It verifies that a church school is offering Christian content and reports whether children are being educated both socially and morally.

Ofsted website:

Please find below our most recent Ofsted report and relevant information from the Department for Education Performance Tables.

Ofsted Inspection - 28th February -1st March 2017

Strengths of the school:

  • "Children in the early years make good progress in all areas of learning and are well prepared for work in Year 1."
  • "The percentage of pupils in key stage 1 meeting the expected standard in reading, writing and mathematics is typically above the national average."
  • "Pupils enjoy reading and make good progress in this subject across the school."
  • "Since the new executive headteacher has arrived many positive changes have been made. These include improving the curriculum and developing the effectiveness of the early years and key stage 1."

Although the report identifies some strengths it also gives clear guidance about where the school needs to improve and an action plan to rapidly address the issues raised has been created. The highlighted key areas of improvement will be addressed by the school staff and Governing Body alongside support offered by external providers (Oxfordshire County Council and Oxford Diocese Board of Education).  Below is a link to the Ofsted report and a summary guide for our action plan.
